Hotel and restaurant Navis, Opatija

Some events go beyond just being industry gatherings, they are moments of connection, inspiration, and celebration. That’s exactly what the JRE Press Event 2025 at Hotel Navis, Opatija, felt like for us. This annual get-together of JRE restaurants, partners, small producers, and media is a time to showcase new restaurants, exchange ideas, and, most importantly, enjoy great food and wine in excellent company.

This year, the spotlight was on Restaurant Vila Rova, the newest member of the JRE Croatia family, led by young culinary talent Chef Marin Pleše. Alongside this exciting addition, the latest JRE Croatia Guide for 2025 was officially unveiled, setting the stage for another year of fine dining excellence. For us at Baraka Winery, being part of the tasting lineup was a privilege. We poured three of our wines, each telling its own story:

  • Maraština Tenebra 2022 – A vibrant, single-vineyard Maraština from the Skradin hinterlands, a wine that speaks of sun-drenched limestone and the Mediterranean breeze.
  • Babić Primošten 2021 – A bold yet elegant expression of Babić from the extreme vineyards of Primošten, where vines fight the stone and sea winds to create something truly special.
  • Prisbus Riserva 2018 – A deep and layered Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot blend, recognized as the best-voted wine at Croatia Top 100.

Sharing these wines with JRE chefs, sommeliers, and guests who truly appreciate craftsmanship was a reminder of why we do what we do.

There’s a buzz about an upcoming gastro event in the near future, and while the details are still under wraps, we’re already looking forward to raising another glass with our JRE family.
